The number of Korean nationals visiting Cebu increased 58.43 percent from January to June this year, accounting for 37.64 percent of tourist arrivals in the island province, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said.

Tourism Undersecretary Phineas Alburo told Sun.Star Cebu that Cebu province, and the rest of the country, continues to enjoy influx of Koreans. Many Koreans, particularly the younger generation, come first as tourists and then later decide to stay for several months to study English in one of the many English-as-a-second-language (ESL) schools in the province.

Sun.Star Cebu said overall visitor arrival in Cebu grew 23.87 percent, totaling 748,006, in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2006.

“Tourism in Cebu is still booming. You see foreigners everywhere in the province, especially in beach resorts and malls,” Alburo told Sun.Star Cebu in the interview.

According to the report, the visitor arrival in Cebu from January to June numbered 748,006, a 23.87 percent increase from the same period last year.

koreans, some of them are really not so nice.

i have a friend who is a tutor for koreans and these young koreans do really have the nerves to be very arrogant. they think they’re so rich. the thing that makes them think they are rich is the fact that prices here are way cheaper than in their home country. an 8-oz bottle of coke here costs around P10+; in their country, it’s around P40+ (when converted to peso) –> well that’s what one of my friends working as a tutor said.

but of course, there are those who nice. and i hope their tribe (the kind ones) will increase

i was once working in an international school in town. I have been dealing with lots of koreans and i find them nice especially the kids. they are really sweet.

Now I am working in the food industry.Part of our program is to promote our store which had opened late of last year. Our target will be koreans who study and at the same time who simply visit the Philippines for vacation or for business. However, I don’t know how to contact them. All we want is to create an international link with these people and to share the greatness of our concept.

We actually have special promotions to offer which we believe beneficial for both.I would be very glad if someone could help me with this endeavor in order to delight our korean visitors.
