Gov. Garcia leads Suroy-Suroy to Cebu’s southern towns

Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia will start her Suroy-Suroy Sugbo tourism project this year with the Southern Heritage Trail, which will run from January 24 to 26 in 21 Cebu towns.

With the proximity of the Suroy-Suroy dates to the Sinulog celebration, Garcia expects more local and foreign tourists to participate in the Southern Heritage Trail, which will have Talisay City as its first stop.

Trail guests will assemble at the Cebu Provincial Capitol from 6:30 to 7:00 a.m. on January 24 and proceed to Talisay where they will have their breakfast. From Talisay, the group will proceed to Minglanilla, Naga, and San Fernando, where lunch will be served at the Sibonga Plaza.

Other towns that will be visited on the first day of the trail include Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, and Boljoon, where the group will stop for dinner.

On the 25th, trail participants will head for Oslob’s historical structure called Kuartel then to Santander’s Sanayon, Jacob’s Ladder in Samboan, and stop for lunch in Ginatilan’s seaside park.

In the afternoon, the group will proceed to Malabuyoc and then to Alegria’s Batong Matutinao Beach Resort, where participants will stop for the night.

The third day of the outing will start with breakfast at Club Serena in Moalboal, after which participants will proceed to Alcantara, Dumanjug, Barili with its famous Mantayuan Falls, and Carcar with its heritage houses.

Organizers said they expect more than the 165 tourists who participated in last year’s Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Southern Heritage Trail.

Package rates are inclusive of resort accommodations for two nights, airconditioned transportation, and meals during the entire tour. Bookings for the tour started on January 8.
