Chatime Cebu IT Park is the first branch in Cebu of popular Taiwanese milk tea brand.
Johnlou Koa, one of the directors of Teabros Corporation – master franchisee of the brand in the Philippines, said Chatime offers kids and teens an alternative to coffee shops.
Young people like to hang out and connect with friends and the Chatime Cebu IT Park was created with this in mind.
Chatime Cebu IT Park, with its free wi-fi and bright and colorful as well as comfortable interior, can serve as halfway house for teens and young adults, he added.
Mr. Koa, who is The French Baker chief executive officer, put up the branch in Cebu in partnership with local partner Teabuds Corporation.
Sugar, ice options
Michael Koa, Teabros president, said it is only in Chatime that customers have sugar and ice options.
“You can take your tea with zero, 30 percent, half, less, normal, or extra sugar and with zero, normal, or extra ice,” he pointed out.
The tea is brewed down to the exact time and temperature in machines provided by La Kaffa International Corp., which is behind the Taiwanese bubble tea franchise, to give it a taste consistent in over 500 Chatime stores in 11 countries, said Mr. Johnyan Koa, Teabros director.
Mr. Johnlou Koa said they found out based on their research that while people like to drink coffee, they prefer tea. A Chatime franchise, he added, costs between P4 and P6 million.
