Ayala Center Cebu to break ground on new expansion

Premier lifestyle destination Ayala Center Cebu is set to further expand the mall to provide more retail and dining options to Cebuanos.

Tomorrow, Jan. 24, officials of Cebu Holdings Inc. and mother company, Ayala Land, will be breaking ground to signal the start of construction of another section of the mall, the company said in a press release.

The planned expansion will complete the circular design of the mall which also serves as the centerpiece of the mixed-use development within the masterplan of Cebu Business Park. Scheduled to be completed in 2013, the four-level structure will add more than 30,000 square meters of leasable space at the mall.

Swim, snorkel, dive in Pangan-an

One of islands usually recommended by boat operators and locals for tour destinations, Pangan-an in Lapu-Lapu City boasts of white sand and clean and clear seas.

Water around the island is shallow so big boats like yachts can only anchor a few meters away from the shore, but snorkeling is possible at this deeper part since this is where fishes congregate.

Small outrigger boats can dock at certain areas of the island, for those who wish to explore it or sunbathe at its white sand beach. Continue reading

Argao’s Bugasok Falls

Hidden far deep in Argao’s mountain barangay called Conalum is the town’s majestic Bugasok Falls. A trip to this southern town in the province of Cebu would not be complete without a visit to the upland river that flows down a rocky cliff to create this rumbling water form in the heart of Argao.

The less difficult or more enjoyable way of getting to Bugasok Falls would be to trek through the riverside starting from the bridge built over the river in the mainland.

But since we were pressed for time, we chose to ride the infamous or dangerous “habal-habal,” which is what they call a motorcycle for hire (popular in mountain areas not reached by other means of transport) that can seat as many as five people in a single ride.

Suroy-Suroy Sugbo tours 15 northern towns

Fifteen of Cebu’s northern towns will be the official stops in next week’s Suroy-Suroy Sugbo, a tourism project of Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia.

Dubbed the “Northern Escapade,” the tour will run from August 30 to September 1 and will start on Thursday next week with a visit to the town of Consolacion where participants will have their breakfast. (Check map of the tour itinerary after the jump).

Travel show features top Philippine destinations

Various tourist destinations from Luzon to Mindanao were featured in the recent 2007 Visayas-Mindanao Travel Show held at the Trade Hall of SM City in Cebu.

Hotels and resorts in Philippine premier tourist spots from the Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon to Caraga in Mindanao joined the travel exhibit that ran from March 16 to 18 in SM. Other show participants include local tourism offices, travel operators, and transportation companies. Continue reading
